The Shire of Murray’s entry into the 2015 Banners in the Terrace Competition showcases the vibrancy and unique heritage elements of the picturesque district.
The Banners in the Terrace Competition is an annual arts competition which showcases local talent and offers members of the community an opportunity to represent the Shire on a state level in Perth. It is the largest single community arts project held in Western Australia.
The Shire of Murray’s banner submission will compete with other local government banners entered into the Professional category. All competition entries will be displayed along St Georges Terrace and Adelaide Terrace in Perth from Sunday 26 July to Saturday 8 August, as part of the WA Local Government Convention and Trade Exhibition 2015.
Pinjarra Primary School teacher Roslyn Williams was selected by the Shire of Murray to produce this year’s banner. “The elaborate collage is inspired by Murray’s cultural, equestrian, farming and recreational facets,” said Shire President Cr. Wally Barrett.
Council endorsed the chosen banner, which was one of two designs submitted by Roslyn, at a briefing session earlier in the year.
Competition winners will be announced at the WA Local Government Convention and Trade Exhibition 2015 on Thursday 6 August.
