Your Say: Are Superfoods just a fad?
The Pitaya Fruit
We have been inundated by the health benefits of Superfoods for several years now. For example Quinoa was recently (and still is) heralded as a Superfood. Are Superfoods just a food fad? What are your thoughts?
Pitaya, also known as dragon fruit, is mild and lightly tart.
Aside from its good looks (that color!), pitaya is loaded with nutrients. As little as 100g can be a good source of fiber and magnesium, and also lends vitamin C, iron, and B vitamins, all for 60 calories. (You already know that brightly coloured fruits and vegetables are loaded with health-boosting antioxidants.)
Note: Pitaya is widely available in Mandurah and can be bought from most major supermarkets and health food stockists.
