Mandurah's Northern Beaches at risk
Do you live on the beach? Are you aware of erosion where you live in Mandurah? Let us know your thoughts...
Annabel Hennessey for PerthNow:
THIRTY beaches on WA’s famous coastline are at risk of disappearing, according to a Government list of erosion “hot spots” obtained by The Sunday Times.
And fewer than a third of them will receive funding to combat the issue this financial year — with money instead going to areas in Barnett Government-held electorates such as Cottesloe and City Beach.
The areas on the list were highlighted because rising sea levels have put houses, roads, powerlines, car parks and even the entire beach at risk of being washed away.
They include 10 metropolitan locations, including Mandurah’s northern beaches, Quinns Beach, Watermans Bay and Two Rocks. The regional spots include Broome Beach, Geographe Bay and Albany’s Emu Point.
