City of Mandurah approves 3.4 percent rate rise
What are you thoughts?
City of Mandurah councillors have approved a 3.4 per cent rate increase at a special council meeting last week.
The new budget will allow community infrastructure to start, such as stage two of the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) redevelopment and the construction of a new seawall on the Eastern Foreshore.
There will also be a big focus on environmental management, particularly the Peel-Harvey Estuary and taking action against shoreline erosion.
Chief Executive Officer Mark Newman said Mandurah continued to experience higher than average population growth, which presented a challenge to the City and the Council.
