NAIDOC Day celebrations

NAIDOC Day celebrations

NAIDOC Day celebrations, kicked off at 4pm with a walk from the rotunda on the Eastern Foreshore. This was followed by the flag raising ceremony which despite the cloud and the rain was attended by a large contingent of attendees. Formalities were then carried out in the foyer of the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, which included Welcome to Country by Aboriginal Elder Harry Nannup and an address by Deputy Mayor Darren Lee.

Did you know that Mandurah used to be called Peeltown?
