Mark Sunday, September 27 in your diary as the official opening of Stage One of the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) redevelopment.
Mayor Marina Vergone this morning announced the exciting news that MARC’s Aquatic Redevelopment will be opening next month, ahead of schedule and in time for summer.
“We are very excited to announce that the Aquatic Redevelopment will be officially opened on Sunday, September 27,” Mayor Vergone said.
“This is one of the biggest community infrastructure projects that Mandurah has ever seen, and we are thrilled to be opening it ahead of schedule for our community.
“This completes Stage One of the long-awaited two-stage redevelopment to transform the centre into a modern, state-of-the-art recreational facility that meets the needs of our growing community and beyond.
“We’re so proud of what’s been achieved and we look forward to opening the doors next month.”
The grand opening will kick-off with a VIP event before the doors are opened to the community with a special, free open day from 11am – 4pm. This will include ‘come and try’ activities, exhibitions and giveaways.
Following the official opening celebrations, the pools will be fully operational from the next day, Monday, September 28.
The Aquatic Redevelopment includes a significant increase to water space for aquatic activities with:
- a new 50m outdoor pool,
- a new leisure pool and change room village,
- refurbishment of the existing 25m lap pool,
- an indoor aqua playground.
There are also new toilet and change room facilities, a new clubroom and increased parking space.
