The Act Belong Commit Dwellingup 100 (D100) mountain bike event is set to showcase a worldclass field on Saturday 5th September, which includes champion rider Peta Mullens.
The 27-year-old is on her way home to Australia following a season racing the World Cup MTB season in Europe and America. She is the current Australian road race champion, 2014 National MTB champion and winner of the D100 in 2013.
Also participating in the event are Andy Blair (Swell Specialized) (former National Marathon Champion), Mark Tupalski (Torq Performance Racing) (runner up in the National Marathon Championships, and current champion at Cape to Cape and Port to Port), Jenny Blair (nee Fay) and Karen Hill (Rocky Mountain I Ride).
The event, which is the largest of its kind in Western Australia, became part of the National Cross Country Marathon (XCM) Series in 2015. It features fours distances – 100km, 40km, 14km and the new 64km, with over 1,000 riders expected to take part.
Dave Budge, Event Director, said that with a widespread network of first-rate bike tracks through the picturesque Dwellingup bush, the event is popular with local and national riders.
“It’s going to be an awesome day on the trails especially given that there’s a number of world-class riders taking part,” said Mr Budge.
“Dwellingup is such a beautiful part of Western Australia and we’re very privileged to hold the event through its landscape. While the 100km event is ideal for avid mountain bikers or those up for a challenge, there’s also the shorter distances, which allow intermediate and beginner riders to have a go.”
